About Us
The Clinton County United Way (CCUW) is celebrating 85 years of service in the Lock Haven area. Governed by a local Board of Directors, the 2011-2012 Board Members are all volunteer representatives who work and live in Clinton County.
The CCUW is locally controlled, though it's also a member of United Way Worldwide and United Way of Pennsylvania, its Board of Directors sets polices and develops strategic plans with one common goal and mission as their driving force:
"People Helping People".
As a result of your generosity the CCUW currently supports 19 non-profit agencies providing more than 30 programs that directly impact Clinton County residents. Focused on four critical areas Health, Education, Income and Emergency the CCUW understands that as its most basic responsibility and function, CCUW exist to provide funding for life sustaining and critical care services for those who cannot, due to indigence or reasons beyond their control, provide for themselves.
Located in downtown Lock Haven with two paid staff members CCUW is open year round and uses less than 20% of the total funds raised to meet administrative/marketing expenses with 95% of all funding paid out to Clinton County only. The small percentage of funds paid to other county agencies is done only at the request of individual donors who asked such as, a Clinton County employee who resides in Centre, Lycoming or other counties. This also works to our favor as well, with a third of the total annual donations coming from outside Clinton County when residents (or former residents) of Clinton County work out of the area and request their donations are sent to Clinton County.
