What is Sexual Violence?

Sexual violence is any contact forced upon a person without his or her consent. It does not have to involve physical force. It may involve a threat of force or coercion. Sexual violence can include the following crimes: rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment.

What is Domestic Violence?

Domestic violence is a pattern of abuse which occurs within a family or intimate relationship. It is used to exert power and control over another person.

Types of abuse:

Physical: hitting, slapping, kicking, shoving, pinching, strangling.

Emotional/Verbal: threatening, name calling, degrading, humiliating

Sexual: rape, unwanted touching, refusing to use protection.

Financial: taking money from the victim, withholding money.

Social: Isolation, alienation from family and friends.

CCWC Services: 24 Hour Hotline, Safe Shelter, Options/Empowerment Counseling, Support Groups, Legal Advocacy, Youth Advocacy, Medical Advocacy, Elder Advocacy, LGBTQ+ Advocacy, Referral Information, Community/School Education & Training, Volunteer Program.

 

The CCWC is available to provide customized age appropriate prevention/education programs and information to any group.

 

The CCWC has been providing services to victims of domestic and sexual violence since 1979. Our work continues to be made possible in funding from: NO MORE/Together we can end Domestic violence, PCCD- Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, PCAR- Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape, CoBI-Counsel on Brain Injury, PCADV – Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Live United – United Way Clinton County.
